Jaci + Trevor ― An Elopement under the Oaks

It’s funny how people walk into your life and you have no clue how big of an impact they will have on you. I’ll never forget, I was in the first year of my business. I had put out facebook ads for some Christmas Tree Mini Sessions. I was (and still am) used to people responding to them online. Except this one day, I was cleaning my house and heard my phone ringing. It was a number I didn’t know. And if you know me, you know I don’t answer unknown calls. But I instantly remembered that I’m new in business and probably shouldn’t ignore phone calls just in case.

I answer and it’s this cheery personality, introducing herself as another photographer in the area and how she’s interested in my Christmas Mini Sessions. She says that she’s totally willing to pay the price, but also was curious if I’d want to do a trade. I would take their pictures and in return, she would take my own family pictures there as well. Considering I hadn’t had family pictures taken in over a year and really wanted some done, I instantly said yes.

We laugh about that today, because I had NO clue what her work looked like, but I agreed on the trade anyways. We met, did both of our sessions, had fun, and were really happy with everything! We stayed in touch. The next fall, I reached out to her to be my second photographer for weddings and that was it. She’s been my right hand ever since. A complete blessing to my business, but more so personal life. We’ve taught each other so much, brainstormed business ideas, vented about personal and business problems to each other, cried together, laughed together, watched our sons form their own friendship together, have gone to workshops together, and encourage each other every chance we get.

And on this random Wednesday in September, I got to watch her say some sweet and personalized vows with tears in her eyes to her other half of 8 years and become a wife. Trevor + Jaci had been engaged for over 6 years. As we all know, sometimes life just gets in the way. This summer, they decided to stop “waiting around” and finally elope. They were going to get married under some beautiful Oaks in her hometown. I had a million things to do on that Wednesday, but nothing would have stopped me from being able to make it and document this special day for them!

Jaci found the perfect, stunning dress. We were stressed about the weather. Everything happened so fast and a few details didn’t get done. But none of that mattered. The weather cleared up. Family and friends arrived. So much excitement was in the air for these two to finally tie the knot. It was perfect.
